List Owners

List owners have administrative control over their lists.  There are two types of list owners:  privileged owners and normal owners.   Privileged owners have write access to all mail list settings while normal owners have read permission to all settings and write permission to the subscriber management settings.    The person or email address that requests a mail list becomes the default privileged owner.   Privileged owner(s) can delegate owner privilege’s to other email addresses/people and define who has “privileged owner” or “normal owner” access to the list.   We require one @illinois.edu address or Campus user be associated with all mail lists.

List owner responsibilities include:

1. 1. Owners are the primary contact for list subscribers.
   2. Owners are charged in managing and maintaining the integrity of the list(s).
   3. Owners determine who can send mail to the list and if a list is moderated.
   4. Owners can assign moderators to approve postings before they are sent to list subscribers.  If no moderators are defined then the owners become the moderators.
   5. Owners defines and manages the mail list settings.
   6. Owners contact the Listmaster with config questions or help with list issues.
